Plymouth's Premier Performance Facility
GVN Michigan opened in 2019 inside USA Hockey Arena — a location that speaks for itself. As our second full-scale facility, it quickly became the training destination for elite hockey athletes across the Midwest and beyond.
Today, it serves a powerful mix of youth, junior, college, and professional athletes including over 30 NHL players in recent offseasons. From structured in-season support to full-scale summer development, this gym has built a reputation for excellence through high expectations, elite coaching, and a relentless culture of improvement.

Brian Galivan
Founder; Director
Brian Galivan is the founder of GVN Performance and serves as the Director of Sports Science for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. A globally recognized performance specialist, he has worked with elite athletes across the Olympics, World Juniors, and major pro leagues in both the U.S. and Europe. Known for his expertise in strength, recovery, and high-performance systems, Brian has built GVN into a culture-driven training company that helps athletes and adults reach their full potential.
Joe Meloni
Director of Performance
Joe Meloni is a Performance Coach at GVN and the Head Strength Coach for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program. With past roles at Windy City Storm and Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning, Joe brings deep experience in hockey-specific training across AAA, USHL, and NHL levels. He combines a strong academic foundation with a relentless commitment to athlete development, tailoring programs that bridge science, performance, and real-world results.
Jason Small
Performance Coach
Jason Small is the Head Strength Coach for Compuware and serves as an Assistant Strength Coach for USA Hockey’s NTDP. With experience at SPI in Tulsa, Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning, and Division I football at Missouri State, he has trained athletes from youth to the professional level, including the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers. Jason brings a high-energy, athlete-first approach rooted in education, personal experience, and a passion for creating fun, demanding training environments.
Anwar Alqurneh
Performance Coach
Anwar Alqurneh is a performance coach with a deep background in hockey and multi-sport athletic development, currently serving as an Assistant Strength Coach for USA Hockey’s NTDP. He holds a degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Michigan University and is certified in CSCS, ELDOA Levels 1 & 2, and Pain-Free Performance. A former walk-on football player and active Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor, Anwar brings an athlete-first mindset and strong culture-building presence to every environment he leads.
McCarthy Clark
Performance Coach
McCarthy Clark is a performance coach at GVN, Interning with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program and coaching Compuware AAA. He is also completing an internship with ACHIEVE, focusing on load management for both the U17 and U18 USA Hockey teams. A former collegiate hockey and golf athlete, McCarthy brings firsthand playing experience and a strong background in strength and conditioning, athlete monitoring, and hockey-specific development. Since beginning his coaching career in 2019, he has worked with athletes ranging from the youth to professional levels. McCarthy earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University Wisconsin and is pursuing a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at Eastern Michigan University. He is passionate about combining sports science with practical coaching to help athletes improve their performance, durability, and long-term development.
Gabriela Galivan
Owner/CEO
Gabriela Galivan is the co-founder of GVN Performance and the strategic force behind its growth and operations. A DePaul University graduate with a background in corporate HR, she transitioned into entrepreneurship to build GVN from the ground up. Gabriela is known for creating high-performance systems and culture-driven environments that empower coaches, athletes, and organizations to thrive.
